Pilots and Passengers
My first attempt at hacking a tabletop game resulted in Pilots and Passengers, a Lasers and Feelings hack inspired by the radio show Cabin Pressure (by John Finnemore).
Tabletop game hacks are new games written from the structure and mechanics of an existing game. Game hacks often change nothing more than the setting and the language used in the rules. Lasers and Feelings (by John Harper) is an infinitely hackable game, with rules so simple they fit onto one side of a piece of paper. Many game designers have taken a crack at hacking Lasers and Feelings, including the most popular hack, Honey Heist, by Grant Howitt.
In 2020 I decided to create my own Lasers and Feelings hack, publishing it for free on the independent gaming website Itch.io. You can find the official release of Pilots and Passengers here.
I wrote and formatted the entire one-page game in LibreOffice, with the goal of looking as minimalistic (and printable) as possible, copying the formatting for the original Lasers and Feelings game.
